I guess "America First" means gutting humanitarian aid. Trump, with his new tech overlord Elon Musk, has set his sights on dismantling USAID, the agency responsible for providing critical foreign aid and disaster relief. Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has already fired or furloughed over 1,000 employees, locked out workers, and frozen aid programs—because why help starving children when you can cut budgets for fun? Legal experts are calling it unconstitutional, but the administration’s strategy seems clear: break everything, drag lawsuits out for years, and by the time the courts rule, USAID will be a distant memory. But don’t worry, Trump and Musk insist this is about “efficiency,” not a power grab. Sure. And SpaceX only takes taxpayer money because it loves competition.

Donald Trump has officially handed the keys to the federal government to Elon Musk, and no one is stopping him. With zero congressional oversight, Musk has deployed employees from his own companies, his allies, and hand-picked recruits to seize control of federal agencies, commandeer computer systems, and override career officials—all under the banner of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Some of these unelected operatives have openly flaunted their roles, while others are scrubbing their LinkedIn pages and vanishing from public records to conceal their involvement. Because nothing says transparent governance like mystery hires dismantling agencies in secret.

Musk, meanwhile, has been bragging about it openly, calling DOGE a “wood chipper for bureaucracy” and boasting that he is actively “deleting” government agencies.

The White House, of course, insists that everything is totally fine and that Musk’s people are properly vetted employees with security clearances—because we all know that Trump and Musk are super big on rules. Meanwhile, the actual career federal workers whose jobs and agencies are being shredded are watching this unelected billionaire dismantle the government in real time.

The worst part? Nobody knows how deep this infiltration goes, and Musk isn’t answering any questions. The only certainty is that whatever’s left of the federal government when he’s done will look a whole lot more like a Musk-owned venture than a functioning democracy.

Republicans are back at it again with their favorite trick: cut taxes for the rich, make the poor pay for it. Their latest scheme? A shopping list of tax cuts that would funnel billions into the pockets of the ultrawealthy and corporations while gutting benefits for single parents, low-income families, and anyone who relies on Medicaid. Because nothing screams populism like yanking healthcare from poor people to finance another billionaire tax break. At the top of their wishlist: eliminating the estate tax, which only affects fortunes over $14 million (because heaven forbid the top 0.1% chip in after death). Then there's a corporate tax cut from 21% to 15%, which would make the U.S. one of the lowest-taxed rich nations—a nice little giveaway for executives already drowning in stock options. So how do they plan to pay for this loot drop for the elite? Oh, just by slashing Medicaid, eliminating childcare tax credits, and gutting tax breaks for single parents—because if there’s one thing the GOP hates more than the IRS, it’s helping struggling families survive. The biggest slap in the face? Killing the “head of household” filing status, which would jack up taxes on single parents—mostly moms—by nearly $200 billion over a decade. Meanwhile, they’re tossing a shiny distraction to service workers by eliminating taxes on tips, a policy Trump pushed in Vegas to win over hospitality workers. Never mind that the bulk of the tax plan screws over low- and middle-income earners—as long as they get one good headline, right? The whole plan is an obscene redistribution of wealth—just upward instead of downward. And if you’re not a billionaire, a corporate executive, or a GOP donor, you’re probably the one footing the bill.

Turns out, under genghis cant's EPA, 'science' was just a fancy word for 'whatever industry wants.' Whistleblowers at the agency say they were pressured to make dangerous chemicals look safer, had their reports altered to erase pesky things like 'cancer' and 'miscarriages,' and then got retaliated against when they refused to play along. The EPA's inspector general confirmed that three scientists were punished for daring to do their jobs, while genghis cant's buddies were busy fast-tracking toxic sludge into the market. And if genghis cant gets another term? His Project 2025 plan would make firing scientists even easier—because nothing says 'drain the swamp' like replacing experts with corporate yes-men

the foreign aid freeze is killing children

In the twilight zones latest "America First" stunt, U.S.-funded medical facilities in Sudan faced a horrific choice: obey bronzin' betty' stop-work order or let up to 100 malnourished babies and toddlers die. They chose to keep working—until they run out of supplies. Despite announcing waivers for “lifesaving” aid, the administration hasn’t actually lifted the stop-work orders. Aid groups are now trapped in a bureaucratic nightmare, unable to access funds for IV bags, HIV medications, warzone evacuations, and even electricity for hospitals. Meanwhile, the administrations State Department is too busy making up nonsense about condoms funding terrorism. The fallout? HIV treatment halted for 20 million people, medical teams abandoning refugee camps, Ebola outbreaks left unchecked, and Ukraine’s civilian aid cut off—all while humanitarian officials are fired for simply trying to help. As one USAID veteran put it: “Like a Russian nesting doll of f*ck-ups. It’s just astonishing.”

hiring a fox to guard the henhouse, President Trump has nominated David Fotouhi as the Environmental Protection Agency's deputy administrator. Fotouhi, a former lawyer for Gibson Dunn, has a track record of representing companies accused of environmental harm, including challenging the EPA's asbestos ban and defending firms linked to PFAS contamination. Critics argue that his appointment signals a troubling shift in the agency's commitment to environmental protection, as Fotouhi's past clients are the very industries the EPA is supposed to regulate. Why would we want to conserve this planet?
